Letter from James and Josephine McDonald
Although we are not wealthy (our income has never exceeded $40,000 per year), we have been attending DSO concerts for more than forty years and have been season ticket holders about a dozen times.
It is clear to us that the financial problems of the DSO are not the result of the musicians’ salaries; the musicians have earned their pay. The problem results from the failure of management to raise money and sell tickets; management has not done its job. It has been derelict in its responsibility.
You, the Board, have also been derelict. Your job is to oversee management and hold it accountable. You have not done so. We demand that you take some action to resolve the crisis.
