Letter from Helen Dusenbury

January 9, 2011

To the DSO Board of Directors:

We have been proud of our symphony orchestra!  My hope is that we will continue to have a symphony orchestra that Detroit can be proud of.  Our orchestra has been a beacon of hope during good times and bad in the city of Detroit.

During this strike, I have been disappointed in the Board for their lack of fair negotiations.  As stewards of the DSO the Board has stood by while watching the orchestra disintegrate.  The Board has a responsibility to demand accountability from management.  Relationships and donors are impossible to develop and expand in this climate.

I ask each of you to study and evaluate the position that has been taken.  I urge you to demand a resolution to this conflict.

Yours truly,

Helen Dusenbury, Royal Oak
